Sweet and salty chocolate and peanut butter cheerio bars – An easy to make breakfast or snack you can keep in the cupboard all week long!
3 1/2 cups multigrain peanut butter cheerios
3/4 cups peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups peanut butter chips
optional: coarse sea salt
Place cheerios in a large bowl. Line a 8×8 or 9×9 inch pan with nonstick foil.
Combine peanut butter, butter, syrup, and chocolate chips in a medium sauce pan and stir over medium heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour mixture over cheerios and stir to coat well. Transfer to prepared pan and press firmly to flatten. Preheat oven to 350. Sprinkle peanut butter chips over cheerio bars. Bake 2-3 minutes. Remove pan from oven, spread melty chips evenly with a rubber spatula or the back of a spoon. Immediately sprinkle coarse sea salt over the top of the bars if you have some.
Chill 4 hours. Remove from pan, cut into bars. Store in airtight container chilled or at room temperature up to 1 week.
